Sydney FC fined for breaching Player Contract Regulations
Football Federation Australia (FFA) today announced that the FFA Board has found that Sydney FC breached the
Player Contracting Regulations during the 2005/06 contracting year.
The Board resolved that Sydney FC be fined $89,000 and penalised one (1) competition point (for season
2006/07) for breaches of the A-League Player Contracting Regulations.
However, in light of the Club’s Management being co-operative and there being no attempt to conceal the
breaches, the fine was reduced to $44,000 and the penalty of the competition point was suspended.
In addition, should the club commit any breach of the Player Registration Regulations during 2006/07
contracting year the one (1) competition point will automatically be deducted along with any other further
penalty that maybe imposed at the time.
The suspended penalty will expire at the end of the contracting year of 2006/07.
The FFA Board also resolved to advise all Clubs of its decision to ensure that Clubs understand the serious
view that the FFA takes on compliance with the Regulations.
