Abrams breaks through for WNBL weekly award

Price Attack WNBL After displaying outstanding form in recent weeks, Canberra Capitals guard, Kellie Abrams, has been named as the Price Attack Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) Virgin Blue Player of the Week for Round 12.

27-year-old Abrams helped her team to a vital win over the Bulleen Melbourne Boomers on Saturday night, contributing 22 points, and her 12 points kept them within reach of their eventual defeaters, the Dandenong Rangers on Friday night.

Abrams, a 10-year veteran of the WNBL, is playing one of the best seasons of her career under the guidance of Carrie Graf, and is averaging 10 points in 29 minutes per game; the most consistent statistics of her long career.

Across the weekend, the 175cm Victorian native averaged 17 points at 55%, and had seven rebounds and four assists.

The WNBL will recommence on Friday, January 6.
