Fevola to continue career with Carlton

Footy '05 @ Sports Australia The Carlton Football Club confirmed today that exciting forward Brendan Fevola has committed to playing with Carlton for a further three years.

“This is excellent news for the Carlton Football Club as Brendan is not only an exciting player with potential to continue to develop his game to a higher level, his high profile has made him very popular with the supporters, in particular our younger supporters,” said Carlton President, Ian Collins AM.

“We have held open and honest discussions with Brendan and his Manager to ensure both parties are happy with the fair and reasonable arrangements going forward,” added Collins.

Brendan was very happy and also somewhat relieved the speculation about his playing future was completed. “I am pleased everything has been finalised, I have said all along that I wanted to stay at Carlton and I am looking forward to continuing my career with the Carlton Football Club and being an important part of the re-building of the Carlton team,” Brendan said.

Carlton Coach Denis Pagan was also very pleased with the announcement, “I am delighted that Brendan has re-signed for three years, he is a young and very exciting player. He has shown he has the potential and he certainly has a great opportunity to grow into the footballer that we all hope he can be,” said Denis.

Fevola is 24 years of age and has played 94 games for Carlton since making his AFL debut in 1999. He has been Carlton’s leading goalkicker for the last two seasons, with 63 goals in 2003 and 66 goals last season and is the leading goalkicker this year with 33 goals from 11 matches. Recruited from Beaconsfield via the Dandenong Under 18s, Brendan was drafted by Carlton as a 17 year-old with Carlton’s second selection (number 38 overall) in the 1998 National Draft.
