Micevski commits to Glory
Perth Glory Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of young West Australian prospect, David
Micevski, for the 2006/07 Hyundai A-League season.
The 20-year-old midfielder previously played for the Glory on loan from Football West Premier League
Champions, Perth SC, at the tail-end of the 2005-06 season and quickly showed that he has the credentials to
play in national competition.
Under the Pathway to Glory partnership with Football West, Micevski has been involved with the first team
since the middle of 2005 and now looks forward to furthering his professional career with his hometown
club.
Perth Glory technical manager, Mich d’Avray, was delighted to secure the talented midfielder’s signature.
“David has already shown that he can make the step up from being one of the best young players in the
Football West Premier League to making his mark on the Hyundai A-League and I am sure he can continue the good
form he showed at the beginning of this year,” d’Avray said.
“He is another young West Australian with a lot of talent and I would like to thank the board of Perth SC
for allowing David to further his professional career with Perth Glory. Perth SC started his development and
hopefully we can help take it to the next level.”
Micevski featured in every Glory game after signing as a replacement for Matt Horsley in January and caught
the eye of national team coaches, having taken part in two Australia U23 training camps in the past couple of
months.
The versatile midfielder has signed a two-year deal and is the eighth West Australian player (out of a
total of 14) to have committed to Perth Glory for next season as the club continues to re-build its squad.
Micevski said: “I was really happy to play the five games that I did from the start and I felt more
confident the more touches that I got in the games so to be rewarded with a two-year contract is excellent
for me.
“It was great for me getting the call for the under-23 squad because to represent my country is something
I’ve always wanted to do and it was great to work with all of the national team coaches.
“My aim now is to carry on playing as many games as I can in the A-League, hopefully we can have a better
season and play finals football next year,” Micevski added.
Perth Glory is continuing negotiations with other prospective players for next season and hope to finalise
a deal for a 15th squad member in the near future.
