Australian Test and ODI squads for Bangladesh Tour

Cricket '06 @ Sports Australia Cricket Australia’s National Selection Panel (NSP) today announced the Test and One-Day International (ODI) squads to take part in the Travelex Tour of Bangladesh starting next month.

The 14-man Test squad remains unchanged from the tour party contesting the current Test series against South Africa, with one change to the ODI squad.

South Australian off-spinner Daniel Cullen replaces Victorian paceman Michael Lewis in the 14-player squad that lost the recent one-day series 3-2 to South Africa.

Commenting on the squads chosen, NSP Chairman Trevor Hohns said: “The Test squad has played some good cricket in South Africa and we see no reason to change a formula that is working well at the moment.

“With the players in the current squad we feel we are well covered for the conditions that may prevail in Bangladesh.

“We have brought Daniel Cullen into the one-day squad to give him an opportunity to perform at the next level.

It will be a good test for Daniel and we think it is the right time to give him some experience and a chance to be a part of the Australian team environment.

“Michael can count himself a little unlucky, but the opportunities are still there for him to present himself for future selection.

“We felt it was necessary to include an extra spinner in the squad to complement the four fast bowlers in best dealing with the conditions we expect in Bangladesh.”
