Brogan extends contract with Port
Port Adelaide premiership ruckman Dean Brogan has extended his contract for a further two years, seeing him
through to the end of 2008.
Both the Power and 27-year-old Brogan are pleased that negotiations were finalised so quickly and before
the start of the 2006 season.
"Dean has developed into our leading ruckman with his great ability to run hard and mark at both ends of
the ground," Power coach Mark Williams said.
"His ruckwork is outstanding and I'm sure his best games are still very much ahead of him.
"He is a part of the leadership group now, and has an important role both as a player himself and in
helping develop our younger group of players."
Brogan said he was thrilled to be staying at Port Adelaide.
"I'm very happy it's (the new contract) been sorted out before Round One. Now I can just move forward and
concentrate on trying to get a win this week, and not have that in the back of my mind," he said.
"I think the club is moving in an exciting new direction on and off the field and I want to be a part of
that. It is the best place for me and my family to be.
"I love Port Adelaide and I'd like to think I can be at one club for my whole career."
Brogan joined Port Adelaide as a rookie just prior to the 2000 season and was elevated to the primary list
for the 2002 season. He has played 68 AFL games.
