Barnes commits to Reds
Rookie flyhalf Berrick Barnes today signed a three-year contract to stay with the Queensland Reds.
Barnes had an option to return to league with the Broncos but chose to stay put despite the Reds
disappointing season.
“I want to see success here with the Reds and I want to be on board to be part of the good times ahead,”
Barnes said.
“I’ve enjoyed this year thoroughly and I’m looking forward to the next couple of years.”
“I’ve had tremendous support from the coaching team including Jeff Miller and Damon Emtage and feel this
is the right decision for me”.
The announcement comes hot on the heels of Rodney Blake signing for another two years and Reds General
Manager Alex Pope said it is an indication of where the Reds are headed.
“Seeing these two young players want to remain with the Reds is symbolic of where we are heading,” Pope
said.
“Two potential superstars of the game have committed to the Reds and we’re all really excited about the
future.”
