Bulls Injury Update

Cricket '06 @ Sports Australia The Queensland Bulls have received promising news on the status of injured pace bowlers Ashley Noffke, Nathan Rimmington and Michael Kasprowicz.

Noffke has been cleared on back stress factures and will bowl in controlled circumstances within the next week.

Rimmington, who suffered a shoulder impingement during the opening Pura Cup match of the summer against Tasmania two weeks ago, has targeted a playing return in the next three weeks.

Kasprowicz, who has commenced running and light physical activity, hopes to complete a return from his back injury by the end of November.

Noffke’s MRI scan last week confirmed no stress fractures existed and he has been given the green light to resume light bowling in the next five days.

“The MRI showed some signs of activity in the bone but nothing that was in the order of a fracture, which was a relief,” he said. “All going to plan, I hope to have a bowl at some point in the next four or five days and see how things pan out.”

Rimmington has been having almost daily physiotherapy and to be considered for the Bulls’ Ford Ranger Cup and Pura Cup games against the Warriors in Perth from November 12-17.

“But we’re likely to have Mitch, Watto and Roy coming back so the pressure to get back is not as great,” he said, referring to the return of Australian players Mitchell Johnson, Shane Watson and Andrew Symonds from the Champions Trophy.

“Perhaps the game against Victoria starting on the 24th of November might be more likely, depending on things go when I begin bowling and throwing without restriction,” Rimmington said.

The absence of the injured trio has provided rookie quick Grant Sullivan and bowling allrounder Chris Swan to make their first class debuts against NSW in the Pura Cup at the Gabba from Friday.

Sullivan and left-arm paceman Scott Brant are the new faces in the Ford Ranger Cup one-day team that takes on the Blues at the Gabba in a day/nighter tomorrow.
