Staff reporter for Sports Australia since March 2005, Antimo completed his SACE at Hallett Cove
R-12 in 2001. The following year, he was accepted into the University of Adelaide’s Media course, which he
finished at the end of 2004.
During his last year at university, Antimo joined the ABC Adelaide newsroom in conjunction with an
internship program, learning from both television and radio reporters and getting a first-hand glimpse of
how the media industry operates.
This time at the ABC was enlightening; helping him come to the ultimate realisation that journalism was
his true calling. Recently, he has been working as a part of the 92.7 Fresh FM radio news team, compiling
and broadcasting regular morning bulletins, in addition to his match-day reports for Sports Australia.
Reportedly born clutching the sports pages of a local newspaper, from a very early age Antimo has had
ambitions to be involved in the sports media in some capacity, and his love of all things sport has often
driven his family to the brink of psychosis.
An obsessive-compulsive Adelaide Crows fan, he has regularly proven that he will go to any lengths to
watch his team perform, with time, distance and a lack of funds being no significant obstacles. Antimo is
also a fixture each week at AAMI Stadium, meeting and greeting the masses in his role as gate
attendant/usher.
Though a realist in every sense of the word, Antimo is hopeful of one day becoming an AFL match
reporter for a Melbourne daily or a television/radio commentator, where his even-handed style and dulcet
tones should appeal to a broad audience. Should that be unattainable, he predicts he will instead join
Tiger Woods’ entourage and watch from close behind the ropes as the greatest golfer of all time finally
captures that elusive Grand Slam.
The man can dream, can’t he?
