Jeremy Paul to be rested from Wallaby Spring Tour

Australian Rugby Wallabies hooker Jeremy Paul will be rested from the 2005 Spring Tour to France and the UK after an MRI scan revealed a bulging disk in his neck.

Paul, who missed the last two matches of the Tri Nations due to injury, will be rested from the Tour to recover from the injury which is considered only minor at this stage.

With an extended off season Paul is expected to be available for the start of the Super 14 in February next year.

Wallaby Coach Eddie Jones says while it’s disappointing for Paul, he will benefit from the extended off season.

“The advice from the medical staff is to give Jeremy the opportunity to rest his injury and unfortunately that means missing out on the Spring Tour,” said Jones.

“The good news at this stage is that it’s not something too serious, and with some rest and a break from the game, he should be right to start the Super 14 next season.”

With Paul being rested from the Spring Tour, the now 44-man Training Squad includes four hookers, Brendan Cannon, Adam Freier, Stephen Moore and Tatafu Polota-Nau.
