Tigers through to the Grand Final
The Wests Tigers have beaten the St George-Illawarra Dragons 20-12 tonight in front of a sold out Aussie
Stadium.
The Tigers fans went wild when the final siren went, as they and the players alike realized a dream.
It only took five minutes for the Tigers to get their first try through some great play by Benji Marshall
who went straight through a hole from a scrum feed, a great start for the Tigers team.
The Tigers made it 10-0 after Dene Halatau barged over some Dragons players to score right beside the posts
to give Hodgson an easy conversion. Everyone expected the Dragons to hit back and they did just that when
Matt Cooper gave the ball to Wes Naiqama who streaked down the sideline to put the Dragons on the board.
The Tigers got another try just minutes before halftime after a string of passes ended in the hands of
Chris Heighington who crashed over the line and the Tigers led 16-6 at the break.
The Dragons got back within four points 13 minutes into the second half after Trent Barrett went in under
the posts and all of a sudden the Dragons were back.
Not for long though as four minutes later Dene Halatau went in for his second try after the Tigers created
an overlap, and the gap was back to eight points.
As much as the Dragons tried, the Tigers soaked it all up and are the first team through to the 2005 NRL
Grand Final.
