ACT provide U21 Nationals upset
U21 Nationals Day Four Review
ACT has been responsible for the upset of the 2006 U/21 national netball titles, after it defeated 2005
runners up South Australia, 47–34, on day four of the championships.
Goal shooter Karyn Bailey was a tower of strength for the underdog ACT side, as she converted 38 of her
attempts, at 79%.
A stunning second quarter from ACT, which they won 14–4, set them up an emphatic victory, as they ran out
13 goal winners over their more fancied opponents.
Day four of the championships also saw the high flying Western Australian team brought down by Queensland,
with their clash resulting in a 49–49 draw.
NSW easily accounted for Tasmania, 75–35, while Victoria had the bye.
The elimination rounds comments on Saturday, with Western Australia, NSW, Victoria, and Queensland in
contention for the championship trophy.
Victoria will face NSW, while Western Australia takes on Queensland, with the winners of these matches
progressing to the grand final, and the losing teams playing off for third and fourth position.
South Australia will face Tasmania for the battle for sixth and seventh place, with the winner of this game
going on to play ACT, in the fight for fifth place.
